One thing the internet has changed immeasurably is your access and ability to make business contacts. It is now easier than ever to send big files or upload to the cloud and share links.
I’m not a fan of SoundCloud links being sent to my inbox. Here’s why: I don’t want to find your “best songs”. I want you to show me what your best music is. Plus, I may listen to the newest song you put up at 4 am half asleep which maybe shouldn’t have gone up at all. Do you want that song to be the first song your potential client/artist collaborator hears from your catalog?
Export To MP3
You want to export all your work to a file format that is commonly used across every platform, Mac or PC. This file should be small enough to easily fit in Email, Facebook Messenger, uploaded to sites, yet high-enough quality where you talent can truly shine.
Audio Format Checklist:
- 16 bit (sample size)
- 44.1 kHz (sample rate)
- 1411 kbps (bit rate) stereo WAV files
Naming your songs
Save your songs so artists and management know who’s song it is, the name of the song, date, and style of the genre in the file name.
The objective here is to make your songs stand out from a sea of “Untiled_01.mp3” or “Coolin_iN_Da_Trap.mp3”.
